Replacing condemned gates with a reliable system

The existing electric gates at the school had been condemned by the previous contractors for failing to meet relevant safety standards. The gates varied in design with no consistency in automation, using parts and safety devices from multiple manufacturers.

Charged Services built and supplied the new school gates and automation with one of our bespoke automation cabinets. These fully self-contained IP65 waterproof and tamper-proof cabinets provide power and control to all vehicle and pedestrian gates. The cabinet was relocated to a more suitable position for better security and easier servicing, reducing both servicing time and costs.

The automation is fully networked, allowing for remote monitoring and diagnostics — reducing the need for unnecessary engineer site visits. This installation has reduced the school's considerable maintenance spend to virtually nothing and provided 100% reliability since completion.

Access Control

Networked door control across 17 entry points

Alongside the new automated gates, Charged Services replaced 17 standalone access-controlled doors with new networked door controllers. Working alongside the school IT department, we deployed a new virtual access control server to remove the point of failure from the legacy physical PC.

The school now have complete control over their access control system, allowing for an enhanced level of security as they can add and disable passes for users immediately.

Complete project management

Charged Services provide a complete service covering all aspects of school gate and fence installation. Our team can carry out every part of the installation including reinstatement of the ground after completion.

We have a trusted network of specialist contractors for specific tasks and we oversee and manage all aspects of the project, so our customers can hand over the entire project to one project manager who handles everything from start to finish.

With this particular project, works had to be completed over the Christmas holiday break — which saw us work right up to Christmas Eve and between Boxing Day and New Year's to ensure the school could open without disruption in the new year of 2024.
